What do you get when you mix amazing fall color with dramatic big mountain peaks, snow, incredible food and meeting the one of the world's most recognized fashion designers? Well, you get one serious photo workshop! We had just fantastic conditions with fall colors at peak in the Gunnison National Forest and farther south in the San Juans and Uncompahgre National Forest. Our clients were a blast and a ton of fun to share some epic locations with. They were even up to a night photo session that was so cold, we had frost on lenses. A bit brisk out there....!
People often ask me what my favorite location to photograph would be. That's a tough one but the first place that comes to mind is Colorado in the Fall. It's hard not to return with several thousand images on the flash cards. We base our workshop in Crested Butte and Ridgway where we explore one of the largest Aspen groves in the lower 48. So many unique and creative images can be made in the Aspen groves. Fantastic place to really work on the art and craft of photography. Ridgway also offers the amazing locations of Owl Creek Pass and the Dallas Divide. We enjoyed an epic sunrise at the Dallas Divide but also were pretty stoked with the soft glowing side light in the Aspen grove around Owl Creek pass.
As the workshop was wrapping up, we enjoyed some coffee and a light breakfast at a local coffee shop in Ridgway when we noticed one of the more famous residents, Ralph Lauren. We'd been photographing around his 75 thousand acre property for two days and he was gracious enough to stop for a photo or two. Thanks Ralph!
Already looking forward to returning next year....!
